Five offline RPGs that don't need a login

Finding a good offline RPG on mobile is harder than it should be. So many of them lock the fun behind an always-online requirement or a mandatory account. We went digging for the ones that just let you play.

The trick with a phone RPG is respecting short sessions. The best ones let you save anywhere and design battles that resolve quickly. Emberwold Tales does this beautifully — you can drop in for one fight or settle in for an hour.

We also look for games that don't pad themselves out. A tight twenty-hour adventure beats an eighty-hour slog full of filler, especially on a small screen where fatigue sets in faster.

Our advice: check the download size and read the permissions before installing. If an offline RPG wants constant network access, that's usually a sign something online is lurking underneath. Trust the ones that keep it simple.
